I'm sure all of you who are emoticonists have taken note already, but `livius is currently MIA, which is more or less the saddest thing to happen, ever =< I'm not sure if she's having internet troubles, troubles with life, or just got bored of the site, but in any case I hope she comes back sometime, because she was an awesome person to talk to, and did more for the emoticons category than any other person on this site.



I decided I'm going to start to get involved with icons again. It seems like the emote category as a whole is kind of....disconnected as of late. It received a huge boost in popularity for a while, but now it's back to being pretty obscure and filled with things that aren't emoticons. I don't hear as much from the users, but that's my fault, since I haven't made much of an effort lately, however I'd like to change that. I applied for the icons and/or emoticon GD position but I don't think I'll get it due to the number of better candidates who've been involved consistently throughout the years. Regardless, I want to get back to hosting contests, being involved, knowing what's going on with everyone who's active.

A lot of the emoticonists I used to stay in touch with are gone now, so I'd like like to call out all emoticonists and iconists who see this journal to say high, introduce themselves, and post their favorite work of their own. Warning though, I can give harsh critiques, so if you're not up to it just say so and I'll give general pointers. Also, link to your favorite iconists.

It might take me a while yet, but I'm going to start getting back into making icons, whoo!

Welp I haven't updated this in a while. I get out of classes in a week and a half :0 because at my school they let anyone who is an IB senior go free a whole month early. However, I have to take several AP/IB exams. I already did the ones for psych and math studies last year, and art half a month ago, which leaves french, english, and bio.

BUT YOU DON"T REALLY CARE ABOUT THAT SO LET'S HAVE A CHAT ABOUT VIDYA GAMES.

SSBB, as you all know by now either from playing or coming into contact with wii fans and newly converted wii fans, is freaking awesome. However, after playing for a little while the question of wtf game Ness is from got to me stronger than ever before, and I decided to play Earthbound all the way through. Fucking awesome game, it is. I want to play the sequel, and it seems there's some fan translation in the makes so I'll have to keep my eye on that.

Right now, however, I am playing a game I have meant to play for years, but could never find: FFVII I thought it'd all be ruined because of the amount of spoilers I've picked up through the years, but I'm already gripped into the story. Cloud is a lot more assholish so far than fanart implies.

Of course, this doesn't mean I'm not still playing SSBB, and in fact some friends and I had a mini party for playing hours on end, it was awesome, except me and my friend's boyfriend kept dominating everyone else (which surprised me, since I pretty much suck at anything that isn't turn based).

Whoo! This school was my top choice, so this is good news. I decided to stay in Florida, because they have really good scholarship offers (pretty much, if you're in IB in highschool they'll pay for your first 4 years of college completely, no competitions or essays or other crap to get it). As far as Florida goes, this is probably the best school (IMO). We don't have any Ivy leagues and I wouldn't be able to afford one even with the scholarship anyways.

Today is my 4th dAnniversary. LOVE YA DA.

Well, back to school. I managed to catch up with Avatar over break and watch the entire Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann series in a day :0 Also played a lot of Mario Galaxy (AWESOME game). Anyways, that's not the point of this journal.

I've been saving up for a new laptop for a hell of a long time now, and my funds measure to about the $2000-$2400 range. I'm seriously considering making the move to mac because I don't trust vista, and I think buying a new computer only to downgrade the OS is retarded. Anyways, I want to hear about your experiences with mac and with vista. If I go with a windows comp I think I'll go with a customized dell, and if I go with apple I'll get the middle model of the macbook pro (with the student discount :V). Anyways, tell me your stories!

Ho ho hum, now that I'm writing a journal I have nothing to write about. School is much more tolerable this year, although I never have enough time to do my art projects as well as I'd like.

Shadowgamers introduced me to Stepmania a while ago but I stopped playing already because my wrist kept hurting. =C It was either that, or the two 5000 word labs in a row I had to do for biology. Have to write another this weekend, what fun! Back to stepmania though, sucks that my wrist kept hurting, that game was fun. Maybe I should get guitar hero? It's not computer keys so I don't think it'll have the same affect.

Anyways, gonna go write some of that lab now, maybe play Sudoku first.

Goddamn nintendo. 1. I'd say Portugal. The Man and their song "It's Complicated Being a Wizard" (lol 20 minute song) currently. Cameljacks has been giving me weird music all summer though, so there's a ton of bands I'm into right now.
2. I had one about being an Autobot yesterday =[ usually I don't get this obsessed over movies, but damn Transformers was awesome.
3. Lol, I had to search for something. Damn, the pixel art gallery is almost completely overrun by gaia avatars, ripped pokemon sprites, and oekaki =[ I don't think it's even reasonable to expect the GD to keep up with all that. I wish they'd take on like....sub-GD's that help deal with miscats. I know liv and shonegold would both appreciate something like that.

Hey I know I said I probably wouldn't update in a while but I guess I was wrong D: A couple people were asking if I planned on posting other art, and it turns out that I'm part of a newish group comic project called foofaraw. Check out our account: We only have a few comics right now but we'll be updating weekly, maybe biweekly for a while to get established. Anyway, I don't do jokes as much, but I do a lot of lineart, and coloring if needed.

This is just a personal adveritisement I guess, so don't bother commenting here.

You've probably all realized that I haven't been very active lately, or rather, you've noticed now that my name is in your message center, and you had a resounding "Oh yeah! I forgot about that person" moment in which you wondered what happened to me and thus clicked my journal. Well, I've been out of school for a week, and I am now officially a senior in highschool. They say that the hardest year in IB is junior year, so hopefully that is true and this coming summer and school year won't be as stressful. One notable difference is that this summer is much longer as usual, since the county decided this is the year to move the start of school out of mid-august and into september, when most schools start.

Now that I have all this free time, I'll be making tons of emotes and other icons, right? No, probably not. Truth is, after about three years of making small icons I am extremely bored of it. It carries a redundancy that changing my shading or animation style won't lessen enough to make it anything more than a chore. Plus there's so many emoticonists these days, I feel like nothing is original anymore. =[ when I first started there were only a few active iconists, camel, budgie, estunt, and a bunch of defunct accounts with emoticons on them. Now there's tons of you guys, and everyone influences each other, and some people just straight out copy. I see people entering "tardmotes" like it's a genre or something, which just upsets me. I wouldn't even care or probably notice if people didn't take the name, but since they do, they're directly telling showing that this site is more about taking things with some measure of popularity and trying to become popular through identification, rather than modelling off of people to develop their own style for personal enjoyment. This is nothing new to me, but it intensifies the sense of redundancy; not only do I feel my icons are redundant, but now everyone elses are too. There's like 5 or so styles: serenework's, camelhijackation's, mine maybe, and a couple other people's, and the majority of people just copy them.

Now I'm just rambling though, and I doubt any of you really cared in the first place, and neither do I really, though that's main problem, isn't it?

I took the SAT yesterday (waste of four hours), this week I have two IB tests, next week I have 2 AP and 2 IB exams. Week after that, normal school exams. THEN: SUMMER! Yay! Ok, not really, since I have a ton of work to do over summer too.

Anyone here happen to know the actual time it takes for SAT scores to come online? I need to know if I got as high as I want, since I need to retake it otherwise.

It's the feeling you get when you realize you don't have any homework to do. I just realized, that even over spring break, I was doing homework every night, whether for art or labor intensive classes like biology. :< This week I had so much that I was up until 2 AM or later every night, I actually stayed home on wednesday simply because I was about to collapse. I went to bed at 9pm last night...didn't wake up until my friend called me asking what dress I got for prom. which is today, and I just got a dress yesterday. Yay for no social motivation! Going with a group of friends because natural selection has a thing against me.

Check it out kids, apparently they've added under the code :ohnoes: and I must say, I'm extremely surprised that they didn't add instead, though I suppose they may add it under D: when they do all the emote legend remodeling. Thank $chris for finally getting an :ohnoes: emote in any case!

Guys, the new pokemon games come out tomorrow according to wikipedia, which one are you going to get? And I know you're getting one, because pokemon is awesome, and I've gotten one from every generation and you have too, even if you pretend you haven't.

I'm taking an algebra course over the summer, and had to do a horrendous amount of crap to get in simply because of the paperwork involved. I'm not even sure why I'm taking it. The guidance counselor made it sound really convincing when he was talking about it, but now I don't really care, though I've realized that having some kind of work over the summer keeps me from going into a lull. Last summer I volunteered at the hospital, which was pretty good. I think the class is supposed to be a good GPA booster, but I don't really need it, to be honest. My GPA is already higher than the upper average of the school I want to go to (University of Florida) and will be even higher next year since the IB credit weight is accumulative.

Oh well. I'll take Lol with me and talk to him to make everyone think I have a mental disorder, then piss them off by doing better than them in college algebra.

I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a wii this summer. I've had the money to get one since it came out, but I thought it'd be toture to actually have one and not be able to play it because of school work. But my summer is slowly filling up with school work too somehow, with 2 art projects (not just making artworks, like 60 pages of work to go with it), 2 labs, a 4000 word essay, and whatever the english teachers assign. Ah, gotta love IB.

So pretty much, I need you nintendo advocates to temp me, what is your single most favorite game on the wii (besides LoZTP, that's the first thing I go for if I get one, but one game isn't worth a system), and why? Keep in mind, I like (in this order) RPGs, strategy/puzzle, sim, easy platformers or adventure (easy since I'm pretty awful at them =[), and even a racing game every now or then. Oh, and I like games that have odd gameplay and don't fit into any categories, like Katamari for the ps2. Is elebits any good?

Lol, if you guys are persuasive enough and I end up getting/liking the game you suggest (not until after may though, since that's when school is let out) I'll make an emote of something from that game in your honor (oh boy, what a prize!). Er, but keep it relatively short, I'd rather not think about essays atm.

Sorry for taking so long to update this journal (....I feel asleep >__> ), but I'd like to let you know that I wasn't trying to make the admins come off as evil or bad, I was simply upset about the way the ban system operates based on my experiences (both first and second hand). Most bans are justified, but at times they do not readily give good explanations for their reasons, which leads to misunderstandings such as this in which certain people act immature and write journals making accusations *cough*.

Lolly was unstanding of this aspect and has agreed with camel that something should be done (just look through the comments on here).

Yeah, this seems like the latest case in the policy enforcement dept's recent line of bullshit. Where people can be banned for being called an "accident retard", for having a name that sounds like it might be a plz account (not until a couple weeks ago was ~desudesudesu unbanned....with the unbanning of plz accounts) or for whatever other retarded spur of the moment reason they think up.

I don't know. Maybe cameljacks did do something worthy of a suspension, but I seriously doubt he's done anything worthy of a permaban. It used to be that only purposeful art theft accounts, obvious spam accounts (not just accounts that might possibly be spam accounts), and accounts used to ban evade (and camelhijackation wasn't really ban evading if he wasn't even signed on) were permanently banned.</sub>
