Whoo! This school was my top choice, so this is good news. I decided to stay in Florida, because they have really good scholarship offers (pretty much, if you're in IB in highschool they'll pay for your first 4 years of college completely, no competitions or essays or other crap to get it). As far as Florida goes, this is probably the best school (IMO). We don't have any Ivy leagues and I wouldn't be able to afford one even with the scholarship anyways.

For those who are interested:
GPA weighted: 5.30
Unweighted: 4.00
SAT: 1350 (only took it once :X, could've gotten higher)

Future Major: Pre-professional biology (pre-dentistry)
Minor: Business

Anyway, any of you graduating seniors this year?

  • Listening to: Ayreon
  • Playing: Mario Galaxy
  • Eating: a capri sun straw

Ooops.... didn't mean to send that one yet.

But what I meant to say is that I am currently a 3rd yr student here..... no wait. WOAH... ok, I literally just realized that I am a SENIOR here at UF!

But anyway.... if you have any questions about anything at all, just let me know.

You will have a blast!

(And if you end up having to take any chem classes DO NOT sign up for any classes that Prof Horvath is teaching. He is unnecessarily hard) ...<<and I think I spelled that wrong. oops... my brain must already be on vacation.

But congrats again!

Hahaha, note taken about Horvath, whoever he is D: I'll most definitely have to take chem with a bio major, since they like throwing in all the sciences when you major in one.

I don't have many questions since I'm at a point that I know so little I don't even know what to ask. Oh! What's the most practical meal plan, in your opinion, after being there for a few years?

Sorry about replying so late, but I haven't been on the website for a while.

But when it comes to the meal plan I would reccomend the declining balance. This way you can put money ono it as needed and you can buy food from any of the dining halls, the campus markets (example: Beaty Market), anything at the reitz union (subway, coffee, etc), the HUB (Quiznos, starbucks, einstiens, etc) or from any other place that sells food on campus. This was definitely the best plan for me, especially since I didn't eat in the dining halls that often.

But if you think that you will be getting most of your meals from the dining halls, then the declining balance might not be the best idea. There are meal plans where you can get a certain # of meals a semester (I am not 100% sure what it is called because I never used it), but you will probably end up having a good amount of meals left over at the end of the semester. ...and any meals that you have left over ARE NOT carried over to the next semester.

I hope that helps. But yeah, so basically, the declining balance is the way to go. =) And you will probably end up making most of your own meals (Ramon noodles if you are not a cook - like me) or ordering in/going out for most of your meals.

Let me know if you have any more questions (and hopefully I helped.. instead of making things more confusing)! ...and I'm sorry, I forgot - but when are you starting your classes? In the summer or fall? Have an awesome rest of your summer!

Thanks! I start in the fall. :D I went to the preview last week so I'm not too confused about what you're talking about. I think I'm going for the declining account. I'm all out of questions for the moment though D: I'm just hoping I won't get lost when I get there.

Haha, as long as you have a map on you during the first week or so... and figure out where your classes are and how to get from one place to another (before the first day of class), then I think you will be all set.

So where will you be living in the fall? And what classes are you signed up for?
Sigh... and all of this UF talk is reminding me that Summer B starts tomorrow and I will no longer be able to be free to do as I please. =/

Well this is a college/university, which means it's after the school required by law, but instead the schooling you take if you want to get a professional degree. You have to pay to go, since they're not part of the public school system controlled/funded by the government.

Its kinda the same as here.. still diffrent
from 4 - 12 year kids go to primary school, they do a test to see how smart they are and to see what school they can get in next. You have like 6 diffrent levels (of smart-ness xD).
When they get into a school they have 4, 5 or 6 years of school based on a level, its still basic stuff they learn, pretty much like high school. After that they can go to college or (of they're really smart) to a university. Those school are really based on a profession with 3 diffrent levels, MBO; basic stuff, HBO; Bachelor and WO; Master. I'm in second year of college for graphic design and I'm going to do a higher level Character design after I graduate.

So what I was wondering about is what kind of profession are you gonna learn for? What does your school offer you?

Sorry for the weird story, there is no logic in the Dutch school system..

Well, this is a really big school (50,000 students) and they have many graduate colleges, so you can learn virtually any major job there, but they mainly focus on business (I think) and medicine (that I am sure about). I'm going into dentistry and later orthodontics.

I think it's the second biggest school in the country.

That's.. big

I thought that you'd be in some kind of art/design school (since your pretty populair on Da, right)
dentistry/orthodontics is something totally diffrent. I wish you good luck on your new school, hope it will be everything you expect it to be :3b

I'm glad it's the University of Florida and not the Florida University. Otherwise, it would have an odd abreviation.

Welcome to F.U!
